Movement with Persis *June 2025 Newsletter*

Persis Meisters | DEC 4, 2025

Hello everyone! Welcome to the June Newsletter!

Lets talk social media and slowing things down a bit...

Instagram, TikTok, Facebook... we all spend more time on them than we’d like to admit. Myself included.

These platforms were built as businesses to capture attention and make money—not to support our health and well-being. While there are certainly some useful bits of content out there, I truly believe social media often does more harm than good. It’s distracting, addictive, and can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and each other. It's also full of misinformation, bullying, and negative comments.

That’s why I’m shifting my focus. I'll still post on social media, but not as much as I have been.

Instead of pouring time and energy into creating content for social media (which, let’s be honest, rarely leads to meaningful engagement), I’m choosing to put that energy into something that feels more aligned: my newsletter.

There will still be a monthly newsletter, but moving forward, you can expect more regular check-ins from me in your inbox—sharing valuable wellness tips, guidance, and inspiration. Think of it as a more intentional, grounded way to stay connected—without the scroll.

So let’s slow things down, step away from the noise, and take a few mindful minutes to read something that supports your well-being.Persis❤️

June Outdoor Movement Challenge

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback last month when I asked what kind of content you'd like to see in the newsletter — I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond!

One of the top requests was for movement challenges, and I'm excited to bring that to you this month!

As the days get longer and the sun shines brighter, June invites us to step outside, be active, and move with intention.

This month, I’m inviting you to join a gentle, grounding June Movement Challenge — one simple practice each week to reconnect with your body, breath, and the beauty of nature.

Whether you're just starting a movement practice or looking to deepen your connection to the outdoors, this challenge is for everyone.

🌿 Week 1: Barefoot Grounding

Kick off the month by taking your shoes off and placing your feet on the Earth — grass, sand, dirt, or even a warm rock. Spend at least 5–10 minutes grounding barefoot each day. This practice helps regulate your nervous system, reduces inflammation, and fosters a deep sense of connection.

🥾 Week 2: Explore a New Trail

Venture out and find a trail, path, or park you’ve never walked before. It can be close to home or a little day trip adventure. Move slowly, notice your surroundings, and let curiosity guide you.

🌳 Week 3: Tree Pose Challenge

Every day this week, practice Tree Pose outside. Use a tree for support if needed. Aim to hold the pose for 30 seconds to 1 minute per leg. Balance in your body. Root through your foot. Breathe deeply.

Don't know how to do Tree Pose? Thats ok! Message me and I will send you a video!

🤫 Week 4: Sit in Silence and Observe

Find a quiet spot outdoors and sit in stillness for 5–10 minutes a day. Notice what you see, hear, and feel. Let your mind settle. This is a chance to simply be — no agenda, no rush.

This challenge is about small, meaningful moments — a reminder that movement doesn’t have to be intense to be powerful.

If you join in, hit reply and let me know how it’s going — or tag me on social if you're sharing your journey!

Let’s move through June — together, outside, and in tune with nature. 🌞

Are your home products harming your health? Let me introduce you to some local alternatives!

Do you use common household items like tide pods, febreeze, fabric softener? Or name brand hand lotions and body washes (think Bath and Body Works!)?

Many common items like laundry detergents, hand soaps, air fresheners, and body care products contain chemicals that can disrupt hormones, affect fertility, and increase risk for chronic illness—issues that disproportionately affect women due to higher product usage and biological sensitivity.

Whats in these items that is so bad you may ask?

🧴 Personal Care & Body Products

  • Parabens & Phthalates: Found in lotions, makeup, and shampoos. These are endocrine disruptors that mimic estrogen and are linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues.
    📚 Harvard Health, NIH

  • Fragrance (Synthetic): Often includes phthalates and VOCs that trigger migraines, allergies, and hormone imbalance—none of which are required to be listed individually on labels.
    📚 EWG, PubMed

🧼 Cleaning & Laundry Products

  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Released from detergents and sprays, VOCs can cause headaches, asthma, and hormone disruption—especially concerning for women of childbearing age.
    📚 American Lung Association

  • Triclosan (in some soaps): Linked to thyroid issues and antibiotic resistance.
    📚 FDA

🌬️ Air Fresheners

  • Hidden Toxins: Often contain formaldehyde and benzene—linked to cancer, hormone disruption, and reproductive harm.
    📚 PubMed

What is a good alternative?

Let me introduce you to a wonderful local shop: Back to Earth!

Located just outside Vernon in Lavington/Coldstream, Back to Earth offers a wide range of natural, safe products—from bar soaps, shampoos, and conditioners to household cleaners, essential oils, body sprays, and more.

I especially recommend their All Purpose Cleaner—it’s one of my favorites!

The shop itself is a charming little spot, but if you don’t feel like making the trip (I usually go once a year for a big stock-up), you can also shop online at:

https://getbacktoearth.com/

P.s. I am not sponsored by them in any way (although I wish I was lol!). Im just a really big fan of their products. I've been using them for years now.

And so concludes the June Newsletter! Thank you for taking the time to read!

Now get out there, get some movement in, breathe, and keep BEING POSITIVE!
